The Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association was founded in 2002 by a career law enforcement professional who sought a better way for public and private sector law enforcement unions to represent their members. A gathering of like-minded law enforcement professionals would work together over the next several years to build an employee representative and collective bargaining organization that put the interests of its members and their welfare before any other consideration. The Law Enforcement Employees Benevolent Association, otherwise known as L.E.E.B.A., has in its short existence accomplished many of its original goals. This has motivated the leadership of the union to continue to move forward with its progressive vision of employee representation. L.E.E.B.A. has not been alone in its vision as many other public and private law enforcement employee groups have taken notice and sought to "join the movement."

On January 27, 2015 LEEBA attended an oral argument in State Supreme Court before Honorable Peter H. Moulton. At this oral argument Local 237 and the City of New York, Office of Labor Relations sat side by side in their attempt to keep you buried inside Local 237 and prevent your ballots from being counted As of today there has been no decision on the appeal filed by Local 237 and the City of New York, Office of Labor Relations. Our attempt to ascertain information regarding a decision was received with a reply e-mail, which stated: “The Judge expects to get to the matter shortly. Please check back in about 2 weeks for an update”. We will be checking back with his chambers around April 27, 2015, which would make it 90 days since the oral argument and almost 6 months since he presided over your case. In response to another matter that has come to our attention, which is the mass mailing you are receiving about a lawsuit that was filed against LEEBA, this lawsuit that was filed by three DEP members, because LEEBA fired General Counsel, attorney Richard Merritt. This lawsuit has no merit and will be vigorously defended. None of the allegations have any merit, unfortunately anyone can file a lawsuit. What Local 237 forgot to add in the letter sent to you was the final decision obtained by LEEBA for the DEP Police? LEEBA finally accomplished what we it set out to do with the DEP Police officers; we won an arbitration case thatgrants parity with NYPD. It took nine years to obtain that decision, but it is DEP that has paved the way for you and many law enforcement officers to obtain the necessary contracts to perform their duties. LEEBA will forge ahead with that same determination for you the members of TLC, DHS, JJ, ACS and HRA. Again, thank you for your support and patience, you deserve a union that will finally fight for your needs and LEEBA will not disappoint you. On May 9th LEEBA will be hosting a GALA that will introduce: The Law Enforcement Officers Protection AllianceThis is a political action committee (PAC) that will work in the political arena to protect the interests of ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT. Please show your support by attending the Gala on May 9th. To purchase tickets click on the above GALA TICKETS button, or go to the LEEBA Upcoming Events page. Very truly yoursKenneth Wynder
